Nature Online

This was by far one of the most fun pieces to make. I utilized multiple methods and applications in order to yield the final product, and although there were many layers to keep track of, it was a great experimental piece to create.

I aimed to create an advertisement of sorts. In my head, I imagined a futuristic world (thanks to Black Mirror and also my COGS 100 Professor, Dr. David Kirsch) and wanted to bring that to life through an ‘online ad.’

You, the viewer in this case, is meant to be a human hundreds or thousands of years into the future looking at an online advertisement for ‘Nature Online: A vivid experience that explores the intersection between virtual reality, nature, and human perception.’ The stark contrast between the less visually pleasing objects in the piece such as the cigarette and mouth and the more visually pleasing objects such as the lead and flowers are meant to explore the possible negative effects technological advancement could have on physical and mental health, which remain seemingly harmless.

Glitch and liquify effects were used to give the ad a technological effect, as if your computer screen were glitching out as you viewed the ad.
